Niall Savage M.ARCH, NSAA graduated from Dalhousie University (TUNS) in 1989. Since professional registration with the Nova Scotia Association of Architects in 1996, Niall has maintained a dual career in practice and as a professor in the Faculty of Architecture & Planning at Dalhousie University.
Whether it is with a client, a colleague or a student, Niall believes that the design process is a collaborative one – a process of finding the design together. Starting without preconceived notions of style or form, but rather through a shared understanding of site, needs, wants, and budget, the building (how it works and what it looks like) will emerge as a result of the collaborative design process itself.
Ultimately and in all areas it is the power of architecture to express ideas and values – about place, landscape, the individual and the family, art, history, social justice and the Canadian experience – that is at the heart of the work.
Niall also volunteers as a member of the Board of Directors at the North End Community Health Care Clinic.
