The work of the office has three main focal points; private homes, multiple-residential, and public spaces.
As a starting point for the work, an overall concept for the architecture of any of our projects is always of utmost importance. This concept tends to inform the design in all aspects of its' development; from siting and structure, through to its' materiality, both exterior and interior, resulting in a cohesive architectural experience. We design custom cabinetry and built-ins as part of the architectural whole - one can not be separated from the other. A complete set of working drawings is provided and we work with the contractor to ensure that each project is built in accordance with the drawing set provided. We are a full-service architecture office looking after every last detail, from building envelope to interiors to landscaping.
Private homes are closely developed with the client to ensure that all the expectations of the house are met within the design. The building site is closely reviewed, photographed, and sketched in order to site it for the best experience of views, light and landscape.
Most of the multi-residential work of the office comprises of affordable housing developed in Halifax. The goal of this work is to provide all the architectural integrity of the office's private housing to those projects with smaller footprints and tighter budgets. With high-quality and sustainable building practises in mind, the work focuses on developing designs that contribute positively to the urban streetscape. Creative floor plans and interiors maximize the spatial experience, natural light and fresh air for tenants and owners.
Public spaces include institutional and commercial work. Our institutional work includes a lobby renovation for a university and a music performance space. Commercial work includes high-end spas and salons. We work closely with stake-holders and owners of these spaces to ensure the design meets the architectural expectations of the end-users while also ensuring that all aspects of the programming for the space are functional and seamless.
